Lady Palmerston's Bouquet


  • 2 drams Oil of rose
  • 7 oz Extrait violet 
  • 7  1/2 oz Extrait jasmine 
  • 7  1/2 oz Extrait cassia
  • 4 1/2 drams Oil of bergamot 
  • 1010 ml Oil of cassia
  • 1010 ml Oil of sandalwood  
  • 1016 ml Oil of clove
  • 15 grams Ambergris 
  • 13 grams Musk 
  • 8 grams white sugar
  • 1012 ml Peru Balsam
  • 11 Imperial ounces alcohol


Macerate fourteen days and filter.

Ingredient Amount (ml)
  • Oil of Rose 0.04 ml
  • Extrait of Violet 1.21 ml
  • Extrait of Jasmine 1.29 ml
  • Extrait of Cassia 1.29 ml
  • Oil of Bergamot 0.10 ml
  • Oil of Cassia 5.89 ml
  • Oil of Sandalwood 5.89 ml
  • Oil of Clove 5.92 ml
  • Ambergris (essence) 0.09 ml
  • Musk (essence) 0.08 ml
  • White Sugar (dissolved) 0.05 ml
  • Peru Balsam 5.90 ml
  • Alcohol (base) 1.82 ml
🧪 Total: ~29.57 ml

🧴 Versions
Extrait de Parfum
Use as listed above. Macerate for 14 days, then filter.

Eau de Parfum (EDP)
Use ~70% of the Extrait formula

Dilute with ~30% perfumer’s alcohol

Macerate and filter as usual

Oil-Based Parfum
Use the same aromatic blend as the extrait

Replace alcohol with fractionated coconut oil or jojoba oil

Let rest 2–3 weeks before bottling

Maceration: Allow to macerate 14 days, then filter through paper or fine muslin.

Color: Originally tinted lightly; optional addition of cosmetic-grade coloring dissolved in spirit.

Sillage & Longevity: Warm, spicy-floral, with balsamic undertones from Peru balsam and clove.

Lady Emily Temple, Viscountess Palmerston (née Lamb, 1787–1869), was a prominent society hostess and political influencer in Victorian England. Married to Lord Palmerston, British Prime Minister, she was known for her refined taste and commanding presence in fashionable circles—making her an apt muse for a refined bouquet fragrance.
